Marhaba Tajweed for Beginner and Intermediate Levels

About This Book

This book is the first part of a series of books that cover all Tajweed topics for learners in both beginner and intermediate levels.

It covers two of the main topics of the science of Tajweed, “The Introduction to Tajweed” and “The Articulation points and The Characteristics of letters”. The explanation is written in a simple language and provided with coloured visual aids including pictures, mind maps and tables, that made it an easy-to-understand book for learners.

Story Behind the Name

Marhaba course is the foundational course which explains the articulation points and characteristics of Quranic letters (Makharij and Siffat). Since all rules of tajweed are based on the letters, so it is essential for students to start their journey in studying tajweed and recitation by learning about the makhraj of those letters and their siffat in order to be able to apply these rules.

Why the title ‘Marhaba’: There are two reasons behind the choice of this title.

First, the Hadith of the prophet (ﷺ) was a great inspiration:

سَيَأْتِِيكُمْ أقْوامٌ يَطْلُبُونَ العِلْمَ، فَإذا رَأيْتُمُوهُمْ فقُولُوا لَهُمْ: مَرْحَبًا بِوَصِيَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ، وأفْتُوهمْ

The Messenger of Allah said (صَلَّى الله عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّم): “People will come to you seeking knowledge. When you see them say to them, ‘Welcome, welcome,‘ in obedience to the injunctions of the Messenger of Allah and instruct them in knowledge.”

Second, the word Marhaba in Arabic means: Welcome. Since this course is the start point of learning rules of recitation, hence we want to welcome the students when they begin their learning voyage.
